While characters like Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor, and Captain America have become household names thanks to the unstoppable power of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they all were the characters that Marvel couldn’t sell to other studios when they went selling the rights to studios to keep the publisher afloat. Since taking their so-called B-list to the top, they’ve also taken even more obscure characters like the Guardians of the Galaxy to popular heights as well. Now they’re set to spread that magic by tapping the Jack Kirby world of the Eternals, a group of immortal beings sent to protect the Earth by the Celestials. But hidden in the already massive casting is a character that might not be well known to the movie goers yet, but who has been a key figure in the Marvel Comics. Game of Thrones actor Kit Harington will be taking on the role of Dane Whitman, the heroic version of Marvel’s The Black Knight. More than just a guy in a medieval suit of armor, the Black Knight has encounters with just about every major player in Marvel’s Phase 4. He’s been romantically involved with Sersi from the Eternals, been part of The Defenders with Doctor Strange where he was used as a pawn by both Dormammu and Loki, he’s led the Avengers, he’s encountered mutants like Apocalypse and Magneto, been tricked by Blade’s foe Dracula, and teamed up with Captain Britain. The Black Knight might end up being the most important person in the MCU Phase 4. Let’s take a look at how that might play out.
