The Waltons The Burnout. When the Walton House burns. In part 1 about this two part episode, Judy Norton (Mary Ellen) goes into detail about the filming of the fire sequences. Working with real live fire as John (Ralph Waite) and John Boy (Richard Thomas) work to contain the fire so the family can get to safety. Erin (Mary McDonough) collapses amidst the flames and John Boy must rescue her. Olivia (Michael Learned), Grandma (Ellen Corby) Grandpa (Will Geer) and the rest of the children watch in horror as John races back into the burning house praying they all come out safely.
