The making of 1914 | Christmas Ad | Sainsbury's


Our Christmas TV ad was inspired by an extraordinary event of the First World War: the Christmas Truce of 1914.

This year marks the centenary of the outbreak of WW1, and it also marks the 20th anniversary of Sainsbury’s partnership with The Royal British Legion.

We worked very closely with The Royal British Legion throughout and will be selling the vintage chocolate bar featured in our Christmas ad, with all profits (50p per bar) going to The Royal British Legion.

You can buy the bar in your local Sainsbury’s up until Christmas, while stocks last.
