I regretfully have since moved on from this project. I planned my recording portion poorly and therefore had little to show of what the final result was, while my priority was on doing build itself instead of documenting it. I hope this video, while incomplete and rushed, is still inspirational and informative to some.
This is the start of my conversion of a 2013 Mercedes Sprinter into a home. A lot is not shown in the timelapse, and there is a lot more to go. Feel free to ask questions in comments.
Not shown is the installation of the solar, electrical, and vent fan. Various other details are missing during times of bad weather or dead camera battery.
It currently has 500 watts of rooftop solar, a 1500 watt sine inverter for 120v AC (normal home outlets wired in), 8.9 KWh leadacid battery storage (4.45 usable to 50% discharge).
I have been holding off on the shower (seen in progress in the video) as I'm realizing it may be much less necessary with so many places to do so.
For water, I plan to experiment with a rigorous filtration system (UV sanitation included) that recycles water from one 6 gallon water tank to be used for basic things like rinsing dishes, brushing teeth, and washing hands. This would cut down significantly on weight, cost (no mounting tank underneath), and dependency.
There is also a chest freezer seen in the timelapse, which I've converted to a normal refrigerator by using an external thermostat, therefore putting little load on the electrical system.
Please feel free to comment and ask questions, some of what I did was different than how others do it and I likely have an explanation as to why. I may also make more videos if there is interest.
