It seems obvious that if the display (screen) is lit, that there's nothing wrong with the CCFL bulb. However, several CCFL bulb sellers on Google lead viewers to understand that if the screen is reddish or greenish or pinkish, that the CCFL bulb is going bad. As far as PINK goes, that's NOT TRUE. These guys SELL bulbs. The real cause of the pink screen phenomenon is a BROKEN wire in the video cable a 1 to 1.25 inch wide flat cable that runs behind the display. The FIX is replacing that video cable. The CCFL bulbs are not at all easy to replace because of the difficult reassembly processand unnecessary anyway. Replacing the cable is nowhere near as difficult. You DO NOT have to remove the plastic base/bottom of the laptop.(The HP service manual tells you it's necessary to do that.) Remove the bezel and then 4 screws , 2 on each side of the display assembly, and you'll have access to the video cable.
