How Christian Pulisic will fit into Sarri’s Chelsea in the Premier League next season. Chelsea have signed Borussia Dortmund forward Christian Pulisic for 64m euros (£58m), but will loan him back to the German club until the end of the season. The move to Chelsea makes him the most expensive American of alltime. The 20 year old is the latest player to join Sarri’s revolution is West London and could be the missing link to turn Chelsea from nearly men to Premier League title challengers.

Maurizio Sarri has implemented his style, Sarriball, in his short spell at Stamford Brigde. But will need some new blood in attack to replace the ageing Williian and Pedro if he wants to compete with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool for the Premier League title. Christian Pulisic fits this bill; a winger bytrade, tricky, pacy and only 20 years old. The American could easily fit into Sarri’s 433 on the right wing replacing one of Chelsea’s current first team right wingers are Willian and Pedro. Willian is 30 and Pedro is 31. Their dribbles per game has been decreasing over the past 3 seasons and even if they returned to what they were at their peak (3.6 and 3.1 respectively) they’re still not even close to Pulisic’s numbers last season.
Pulisic joined Borussia Dortmund at the age of 16 from PA Classics. He holds several Bundesliga and Dortmund records; he is the youngest nonGerman to score in the league, the youngest player to score two Bundesliga goals, and is the youngest player to appear and score for Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League. One of Pulisic’s best performances in his career came against Monaco in the Champions League at the age of 18. Dortmund were two goals down after an Mbappe goal and own goal from Sven Bender. Thomas Tuchel introduced Pulisic at halftime at RWB in 3421. It changed the game, Monaco couldn’t handle the American’s direct running and quick feet and he consistently beat Raggi at left back. Pulisic had one thought in that game, burn Raggi and cross low and Dortmund won the second half 21. His direct running and low crossing will be perfect for Chelsea under Sarri.
There has been a lot of talk of Callum HudsonOdoi being the collateral for Pulisic joining Chelsea but if Sarri wants to evolve Chelsea further the young pair need to be part of his plans. Sarri could set Chelsea up similar to his Napoli side using an advanced playmaker on the left wing, a false nine through the middle and a winger on the right. During his last season at Napoli, he used Insigne, Mertens and Callejon in the three respective roles. For Chelsea, Callum HudsonOdoi could be used as a playmaker on the left, Hazard as a false nine and Pulisic could fulfil Callejon’s role on the right as a winger.
