This playthrough of "Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest", was recorded at the time of the release of "Donkey Kong Country Returns" as a means of celebration. "Why this one" you ask? Two reasons. Reason #1, the most important, Diddy Kong is awesome, so naturally I would play the game that stars him right? lol Reason #2, I may have the first and third games, but this one remains my favorite. =]
I am doing a standard playthrough, and thus, I won't be worrying about bonus barrels, and getting all the Kremcoins and/or DK Coins. If I land in a bonus barrel, it wasn't my intention, but I'll just make do and then carry on as normal. I have a few humiliating deaths, but I think it's because I was in such a hurry, I normally do a little better than that. lol But hey, this playthrough isn't flawless, nor was it meant to be. :P
Main Characters (for those unfamiliar)
Diddy Kong (the hero): Diddy is the main monkey, famous for his speed, red ball cap, and red tanktop shirt with yellow stars on it. He dishes out deadly cartwheel attacks, and in later games gets several gadgets such as a barrel jetpack and peanut pop guns. He doesn't have the brute strength that that his big buddy Donkey Kong himself has, but he makes up for it with his courage and cleverness. His mission is to save Donkey Kong from Kaptain K. Rool, and defeat the fiend yet again.
Dixie Kong (the sidekick): Dixie is a fearless adventurer that accompanies Diddy on his quest to save Donkey Kong. She is Diddy's girlfriend, and can do a lot of neat tricks, such as using her long, blond ponytail to act like a helicopter propeller to glide, and also to attack enemies with. She has been on a few adventures herself, one time teaming up with her cousin Kiddy Kong to save her boyfriend Diddy, and Donkey Kong as well, from the clutches of Baron K. Roolenstein.
Kaptain K. Rool (the villain): K. Rool has gone by several aliases, the first being King K. Rool, the next being Kaptain K. Rool, and the third being Baron K. Roolenstein. The scoundrel has done several different villainous acts, the first being stealing Donkey Kong's banana hoard (for who knows what reason), the second being kidnapping Donkey Kong himself, and the third kidnapping both Donkey and Diddy Kong. He has a large ego that goes so far as to make him incompetent in his own way, blundering but dangerous as he tries to defeat the Kongs.
Donkey Kong: Donkey is Diddy's big buddy and best friend, well known for his strength, courage, stature, and red tie with his initials "DK" in yellow on it. He has gone on countless adventures, twice being the victim of kidnapping, and several times over the hero. He is Cranky Kong's grandson, who is described as being the original Donkey Kong from the 1981 arcade game.
