We live near a park, and we have been feeding the squirrels for years with nothing unusual, until one day my adult son found a little guy who had JUST been abandonded by it's mother... and he scooted up my sons leg and up and his shoulder and would not leave, so he brought it home for fear the dogs that run around in the park might get him. We ended up adopting him for about 7 months until he acclaimated to the out doors, and even then, we saw him daily for months! We named him Roy, his nickname was coocoo or (Koocabura) he eventually moved on and left, but had become a very special and memorable part of our lives. Squirrels CAN be domesticated, but it is illegal to keep them as pets, for many reasons. Their tiny claws can really scratch you effortlessly, and if they get scared or startled and scamper up near your face, you can get your eye scratched... special care is required when dealing with squirrel's. Personality's vary from animal to animal.
