The 2storey building, Bedok Market Place, holds charm with a buzzy vibe and boasts a great destination for mouthwatering favourites.
A goto stall is the Rong Guang BBQ Seafood (荣光铁板烧鱼) stall helmed by 2nd generation Chef Joe. The business dates back to 1985, and has held up for close to 4 decades.
Fondly named as Botak Joe by KF Seetoh, Joe took up the invitation & set up a stall in 2011 at Makansutra Gluttons Bay. Joe's culinary skill has been well recognised from the awards he received and the appearances he made in the media.
Joe takes pride in his BBQ Sambal Stingray and Chilli Crab as well as his other Zi Char stirfry dishes. The secret that sets his dishes apart from the rest is in the sambal a recipe that he inherited from his mother. Nicely coated with sambal, the barbecue stingray has a good balance of flavour, and packs a spicy punch with smoky undertone. Try the chinchalok sauce that adds a tangy zest!
Apart from chilli crab, be sure to try out Joe's Seafood Mee Goreng. It's so packed with Wok Hei and umami that you'd crave for more.
